| Administrator | I am a bit worried about the file system of Ashes Cricket 2009. In the demo, there is only one file and that is async.big.w32. The file is highly compressed and is neither a .BIG file and nor .W32 file. It's a different file. I tried to inspect the file with different memory tools and in the end I got some success. The file async.big.w32 contains a full set of folders like the folder in BLIC 07. Hacking into the memory, I was able to extract a file called "crowds.mpr" from the Animations folder which I suppose contain the animation of the crowds. I have also got some more file names like shot files but wasn't able to extract them because currently there is no tool available on net which can extract these. I am worried that if this file system will be also there in the full game then forget patching the game. However, a new tool could be made. Codemasters have tried to protect their game from being edited in all the possible ways. The memory is protected by SecuRom so no Dll Injection is possible. If You will go to "My Document\My Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\" you will find three files: "display.opt": The file which contains all the display and graphic settings of the game. "userdata.dat": The file which seems to be the roster of the game. "userstat.dat": Probably the statistic file. We will confirm this when the full game will be released. Please if any of you has found something regarding the file system of the game, please post it here and it will be helpful. Last edited by Stumped; 03-08-2009 at 08:33 PM. |

| Administrator | Well I tried my hand on editing in a complicated way. Here are some textures I extracted from the game. Sorry for watermark but I have to put so that it will be just for viewing purpose now. The face texture is of Kevin Pietersen. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hitterman added 0 Minutes and 30 Seconds later... The quality of the textures is brilliant! |

![]() | @ Stumped Stumped, I was also doing a bit of research on how to extract that async.big.w32 file, and I think I got something. First of all I just want to say that I don't even have the demo and I'm not planning on getting the game for PC, I'm going to get it for PS3, but the discussion about this async.big.w32 file got me really interested. Now I found 2 programs that I think might be able to extract the file, but I'm not 100% sure since I don't have the demo my self. But since you do, I think it would be better if you gave it a go, now I know that posting links in threads is against the rules, but I think this is really important and everyone needs to know about it so I'm going to post the links for downloading the 2 programs on this thread, please try to understand by not deleting this post and banning me. Anyways, here are the links for the 2 programs that might be able to extract async.big.w32 The first one is called Game Extractor, here is the link: sourceforge.net/projects/gameextractor/files/Game Extractor 2.0x/ The second one is called Dragon UnPACKer, here is the link: drgsoft.free.fr/dup540adegei-setup.exe (Copy and paste the links into your browser) If you get any success then please reply to this thread and please try to understand why I did this Thanks ![]()
