Ashes Cricket XBox Live Demo Impressions

Finally, I was able to play the demo of Ashes Cricket 2009 on XBox 360.

Mode : Normal

Well, at first, the most impressive thing was the presentation of the game. I must say that the menu graphics were really extraordinary and better than BLIC 07.

Coming to the game, the level of detail of the pitch and weather conditions is more than the BLIC 07. It was also nice to see Jonathan Agnew and the legendary bowler Shane Warne as commentators.

Coming to the Gameplay, the bowl was actually swinging and changing the variations was troubling the batsman. Batsman was tried to pull the short deliveries but wasn't able to do it correctly because the ball was swinging and there was a lot of seam for the fast bowlers. However, if you will choose spin bowler than obviously they will find easy to hit it. However, for the first 2 overs they were playing very defensively but when I chosen spin bowler, they started playing some shots.

Coming to the cutscenes and motions, there were many changed in the player's motion but the umpire seems to be like the ones in the BLIC 07. The cutscenes were fantastic as you could actually see the expressions of the players according to the situation like the captain loosing the toss giving a smile to the winning captain and also the expressions of bowlers being excited after bowling a good bowl.

There were few negatives also like bowler bowling short length delivery again after being hit by the batsman for a 4. Another thing I felt was sometimes, the batsman were playing foolish shots like trying to play a defensive shot against a short ball. It was surprising to see top order batman like Ponting, Strauss etc doing this.

Anyways, here are my rating for the XBox Demo

Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay:7/10
Presentation: 8/10

OVERALL: 8/10

In the end, I would like to add that the game is a lot better than BLIC 07 and obviously Cricket 07 in all aspects.

Well, i was lucky enough to play the game in my friends house
now here is my demo impression
Mode:-easy,Normal,hard
i was just scared about the control( i am Unfamiliar with xbox),but after some time i got it right
1.Game play:-
a)Mode easy :-If you want play a silly stick cricket game,then this mode is for you,completely slog mode,Just hit or get out

b)mode Normal:-well in Normal mode,you can feel the change,now the ai will bowl you some good delivery,but 80% of them are half volley ,but in Normal,there is no more loopy deliveries,the ball will come at a good pace according to the bowling speed.if you are a casual gamer this mode is right for you,

c)Mode Hard :-thanks you codies and Transmission guys,hats off to you,if looking for real challenge like in Blc 99,then just play in hard,But still AI was bowling a lot of half volley(i think it is a bug,but it will be a gamekiller bug),but they are coming in a good pace according to there speed and stats,but i still scored 32/2 in 3 overs,but while bowling they just smashed me all over the park,you have to try hard to earn a wicket in hard

d)Catching system:-great addition,but it is hard

e)fielding:-well now new type field editor,you will find it very easy to set good fields

f)umpiring :-there is some bug/problems with this matter,many certain LBW was not given


2.graphic:-Well you cant expect crysis like Gfx in cricket game,but Tbh I expected a Little bit more(faces are horrible in some cases)

3.Camera:-Really Really awful,,they need to fix the zoom of camera, other wise you will not see the ball in time of replay

4.Stadium detail :-In one word Impressed,really good stadium detail(except the press box),

5.Presentation:- Very nice,

6.controls:- a little bit hard for me,hope it will not happen in Pc

7.commentary:-man why you guys record same commentary with different commentator,you will find almost same as other blc game

The final Impression:-It is a good cricket game,and a great sequel after Blc 99,but if you are looking for the best then sorry(demo impression mind it),but it is really hard to judge the whole Ai system via 3 overs game,i know the demo is a very old build of the game,so hope they have fixed the bowler bug and other some serious bugs,

presentation:-10/10
In total:-8.5/10( i am impressed with game tbh)

Actually, there sizes are bigger.

Anyways, it seems that you got sticked with that demo.

The PC demo should be the updated Demo. I hope it will be better than this. Anyways, 2-3 more days for the demo to be released.
