Is it possible to play your custom player in online matches?

Cant seem to figure out how to do it

Most games don't allow custom players to be used online because custom players can be customized and be given abilities that all the ordinary players don't have. This would give you an unfair advantage over whoever you are playing online against because your custom player might be better than all the ordinary players and the person you are playing against might not have any custom players.

I don't have the game yet but this is the most common reason that I know for why custom players aren't allowed online.
